
Bisons Drop Second Straight to Syracuse

Buffalo NY - The Buffalo Bisons had several late-game opportunities but could not push across the equalizer in their 5-3 loss to the Syracuse Mets on Wednesday night at Sahlen Field.
The Syracuse Mets struck first in the top of the first inning when Luke Voit hit his first home run as a member of the team. The two-run blast came with Danny Mendick aboard and allowed the Mets to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Buffalo answered back later in the bottom of the first on a Jordan Luplow single to center. Otto Lopez scored from second to trim the deficit in half, 2-1, after an inning.
With the bases loaded and no outs in the top of the fourth inning, Nick Meyer walked on six pitches. The walk allowed Jonathan Arauz to score and extend Syracuse's lead to 3-1. One batter later, Jaylin Davis scored on a ground ball double play that allowed the Mets to enjoy a 4-1 advantage.
L.J. Talley collected one of his two hits in the game in the bottom of the fifth that cut into the Bisons' deficit. His line drive went over the head of Mendick for a triple, and an errant throw to the base allowed Talley to score and bring Buffalo within two again, 4-2.
Three innings later Luke Ritter drove in his first run of the night on a base hit to left field. The third baseman had been 0-2 with a walk prior to his RBI single that extended the Syracuse lead to 5-2.
The Bisons were able to get back within a pair of runs thanks to a back-to-back hits in the bottom of the eighth. Wynton Bernard led off the inning with a single and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. He scored a few pitches later after Talley hit a ground-rule double for his second extra-base hit of the game. Buffalo failed to score again in the inning and trailed 5-3.
The Bisons and the Syracuse Mets will meet for the third game of the series on Thursday night The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
