Charlotte Knights News Release

(DURHAM, NC) -- For the second consecutive day, the Charlotte Knights used a big first inning to go on to an impressive victory over the Durham Bulls.

The Knights scored seven runs in the first inning and rolled over the Bulls by a score of 11-7 in game two of the six-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC on Wednesday night. Over the first two games of the series, the Knights have combined to score 21 runs against the Bulls. Wednesday's win was Charlotte's third-in-a-row.

In the top of the first inning, the Knights jumped out to a quick start. A night after scoring four runs in the first inning in Tuesday's opener, the Knights pounded out seven runs in Wednesday's contest. Right fielder Víctor Reyes, the team leader in nearly every offensive category, drove in his 51st run of the season on an RBI double. The hit parade continued as Oscar Colás, Carlos Pérez, Stephen Piscotty and Yolbert Sánchez all had an RBI apiece in the inning. The big hit of the frame came off the bat of Zach Remillard, who doubled home two runs.

The Bulls cut into Charlotte's 7-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning against LHP Nate Fisher. The Knights, however, battled right back and scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 10-2 lead. The inning was highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Erik González and a sacrifice-fly RBI from Reyes. The RBI was the 52nd of the season for Reyes.

The Knights added an 11th and final run of the game in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Laz Rivera.

Fisher (5-7, 4.87) earned the win after he allowed just three runs on three hits over six innings. Fisher, who made his team-high 13th start of the season on Wednesday, also struck out seven batters on the evening.

The Bulls scored seven runs in the game and did so thanks to six solo home runs. Jonathan Aranda and Niko Hulsizer had two home runs each.

The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Thursday night. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Thursday is set for 6:35 p.m. from the DBAP.
