Beast Sign Forward Rob Ricci

BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast announced today the signing of 29-year-old Brampton native Rob Ricci.

Ricci played four years of NCAA hockey with Merrimack College, where he tallied 83 points (34 goals, 49 assists) and 105 penalty minutes in 99 games. The skilled forward was awarded team MVP honours in his freshman, junior and senior seasons, and was named co-captain in his final year.

Ricci's professional debut came that same 2008-09 season with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL. The talented Canadian would go on to finish his campaign with the South Carolina Stingrays, where he spent his next two years and won the ECHL Championship Kelly Cup before being called up to the Pretoria Rivermen of the AHL.

Prior to beginning his college hockey career, the 5' 9" 165-pound centre/left-wing scored 76 points in 49 games in his rookie season in the OPJHL for the Milton Merchants. Heading south of the border to develop his skill in the USHL, the top junior hockey league in the United States, Ricci put up 99 points with 43 goals through 119 games over two seasons for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, winning both the Anderson Cup (regular season points leader) and Clark Cup (USHL Championship) with the team in his second year.

Ricci has spent his last three seasons playing pro hockey in Europe, primarily in the premier league in Denmark, the Danish Eliteserien, where he was named to the Danish League All-Star Team and earned Player-of-the-Month honours in his first year overseas.

In other news, the Beast have released defenseman Jeremy Beaudry and forward Linden Bahm. The Beast will welcome the Quad City Mallards back to the Powerade Centre for Canadian Forces Night this Sunday November 16 at 2:00 PM for the fifth and final game of their current homestand. Brampton will be shooting for their third win in a row after their thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over the Mallards on Friday.
