ANCHORAGE - Brad Richard scored two goals, added an assist and nine different teammates hit the scoresheet to help the Alaska Aces rout the Stockton Thunder, 6-2 before 4,712 fans at Sullivan Arena on Friday night.
In the opener of Military Appreciation Weekend, which included the Aces wearing specialty jerseys to honor the armed forces, they erased an early 1-0 deficit on three unanswered goals while Greg Wolfe earned a three point game and Niklas Lundstrom made 23 saves.
Keith Seabrook beat Lundstrom through the five-hole for a power play goal at 7:20 of the first period for a 1-0 Stockton lead, erased with 6:20 left when Richard flipped a rebound over a fallen Philippe Trudeau.
Wolfe converted a backdoor feed from Tim Coffman at the right post for a 2-1 Aces lead at 2:12 of the second period, starting a four-goal outburst before the end of 40 minutes. Richard's second goal of the game, a snap shot from the right circle on a three-on-two rush, boosted the lead to 3-1 on a cross-ice pass by Ryan Tesink at 4:58.
Loic Leduc's seeing-eye shot from the outside of the right circle cut the Aces lead to 3-2 at 6:41, but the Aces responded to scored two goals in a span of 1:01 to cruise to a 5-2 advantage. Chris Francis' shot was stopped from the left circle, but Corey Syvret buried the rebound with 2:15 remaining.
The Aces earned another outnumbered attack on the next shift and Brendan Connolly whipped a cross-ice feed to Francis, who rocketed his second goal past Trudeau from the right circle for the three goal lead.
The Aces outshot Stockton, 11-6 in the final period to put the game out of reach and Olivier Archambault's eighth goal of the season at 6:38, a backhander at the crease, boosted the Aces lead to 6-2.
Trudeau took the loss on 34 saves.
