Evansville IceMen News Release

ELMIRA, N.Y.- The Evansville IceMen presented by Coors Light, could not overcome an early strike from the Elmira Jackals who came away with a 4-1 win. With the loss the IceMen fell to 4-5-0-1 (9 points). The Jackals (7-3-0-2, 16 points ) completed a two game sweep of the IceMen.

Elmira attacked the net quickly. Andrew Conboy tucked in a wrap around shot past Chris Driedger just 38 seconds into the game. Conboy's tally put the Jackals up 1-0 under a minute after the opening after faceoff.

Over three minutes later, the Jackals padded their lead as Colin Jacobs scored on a point blank shot courtesy of passes from Justin Kea and Nick Tuzzalino. Jacobs' first of the year put Elmira up 2-0 early in the opening period.

Also, in the first period, Assistant Captain, Matt Lowry dropped the gloves and traded punches with Rob Florentino. Lowry's first fight of the season fired up the IceMen as they outshot the Jackals 11-7 in the first period. However, Elmira led 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

The Jackals tacked on two more goals in the second period. Kea and Tuzzalino both found the back of the net and chased Driedger from the game. Branden Komm made his professional debut in the third period as the IceMen trailed 4-0.

In the final frame, Kale Kerbashian took a slap shot that missed the net and rattled around the boards all the way to the blue line. Randy Cure grabbed the loose puck and slapped a blistering slap shot that beat Travis Fullerton. The goal was Cure's first of his pro career and came at the expense of his former team.

Matt Lowry and Kerbashian added the assists on Cure's first career goal. Lowry extended his point streak to two games, while Kerbashian pushed his point streak to three. The Thunder Bay, ON native leads the team with 10 points this season.
