Kalamazoo drops 2nd Annual Bell's Blue Ice Game to Reading

KALAMAZOO - Falling into a first period hole they couldn't get themselves out of the Kalamazoo Wings lost Saturday night to the Reading Royals 3-1 during the 2nd Annual Bell's Blue Ice Game featuring Bell's Winter White Ale.

The Royals dictated much of the action in the opening period. Besides out shooting the K-Wings 18-4, Reading produced both goals in the stanza. Extending his point streak to nine games, Cam Reid (4th) gave the Royals the lead midway in the period.

Slipping past the K-Wings defense David Marshall earned his team-leading fifth tally of the season on a breakaway18:32 into the period to grow Reading's lead to two goals.

Back on their game in the second period the K-Wings started to turn the tables on the Royals. Putting 11 shots on net to Reading's five; Kalamazoo cut the deficit in half midway in the period. Winning a face-off in the Royals zone Justin Taylor laid the puck to the blade of Matt Caria for this third goal of the season.

With less than three minutes remaining in the regulation, Ryan Cruthers (2nd) added insurance late for the Royals netting his second of the season.

Kalamazoo will begin a brief two-game road swing at Allen County Memorial Coliseum this Friday, November 21st with an 8 p.m. encounter again the Fort Wayne Komets.

The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium on Friday, November 28th with a special 5 p.m. Black Friday game face-off versus the Komets on 3, 2, 1 Countdown to Fun, featuring $3 beers, $2 Pepsi products and $1 hot dogs courtesy of Winter's Sausage.

Between now and Wednesday, December 10th fans that come to any K-Wings home game can register to win two tickets to the Detroit Red Wings game on December 16th versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. The prize also includes a special meet and greet after the game in the Olympia Club.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are currently on sale at Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.

Fans that plan on attending multiple games can avoid service fees plus enjoy a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 12, 24 or 36-game flexi-plan.
