January 23, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Barons News Release
CLEVELAND - The intense intrastate battle between the Cleveland Barons and Cincinnati Mighty Ducks will be heightened by the introduction of the "Labatt Blue Cup". The "Labatt Blue Cup" will be awarded to the team that wins the 2003-04 season series. Sunday, January 25th at Gund Arena will mark the first of eight meetings between the two teams.
Fans will benefit from the introduction of the "Labatt Blue Cup" as well. Every game ticket from Sunday's contest is redeemable for a free dip sampler or sopapilla at the Don Pablo's restaurant in Brooklyn, Akron and Willoughby. In addition, Tavis Hansen, Robert Mulick, and Jesse Fibiger, among other Barons, will eat lunch and sign autographs at Don Pablo's in Brooklyn on Wednesday, January 28th at 1:00pm. Don Pablo's is located on 10310 Cascade Crossing in Brooklyn.
The eight-game series with the Mighty Ducks is the most games the Barons play against any out-of-division opponent. This season, the Barons are 6-2-1-2 against teams from the West Division, in which Cincinnati is a member.
"Cincinnati is definitely a natural rival for us and the Labatt Blue Cup will bring a certain amount of bragging rights into the equation," stated Barons President Michael T. Lehr. "Thanks to Labatt Blue, the fans are the big winners in all of this, as it brings another dimension of added value to our games."
"We're excited to be participating in this competition with the Barons," said Ducks President and CEO Pete Robinson. "We'd like to thank Labatt Blue for being instrumental in putting this together. It's going to create a lot of enthusiasm among the fans, and will benefit both teams."
Barons tickets can be purchased at all TicketMaster Outlets, the Gund Arena Box Office, and charge-by-phone by calling 216-241-5555. More information about the Barons is available by calling 216-420-0000 or by Crashing The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
