Houston Aeros News Release

Cleveland, OH – Brad Boyes posted two goals and an assist and Tavis Hansen and Miroslav Zalesak each added a tally and a helper, leading the Cleveland Barons over the Houston Aeros, 5-3, at Gund Arena. Robert Mulick also scored and Seamus Kotyk made 40 saves for Cleveland, which has won a season-high four straight. Travis Roche, Stephane Veilleux and Michael Schutte each scored for Houston, which is winless in a franchise-record 13 straight games (0-5-7-1). Frederic Cloutier, just up from ECHL Louisiana, surrendered five goals on 30 shots to take the loss.

The Aeros return home off their four-game road trip tomorrow for a 7 p.m. game against Syracuse. It's Johan Holmqvist Bobblehead Night, presented by Memorial Hermann Hospital. The Aeros will give away bobbleheads to the first 3,000 fans through the Toyota Center doors.

Hanson scored on Cleveland's first shot of the game to put his team up 1-0 just 3:50 in. Patrick Rissmiller fed an untouched Hansen through the crease, and Hansen – who also scored Wednesday in a 3-1 win over the Aeros – tapped the puck into an open portion of the net for his ninth goal of the season.

Roche scored 4-on-4 after a feisty Mark Cullen fired up his team by getting into a small scrum with Craig Valette. Roche ricocheted one off Kotyk into the back of the net at 11:02, after both Marc Cavosie and Christoph Brandner did a great job keeping the puck alive in the zone.

The Barons answered right back with a Boyes 4-on-4 goal of their own 1:17 later to go right back on top. Boyes, who tallied his second in two games as well, gave Cleveland two goals on its first three shots.

Rissmiller fired one just wide of an open net late in the period in an attempt to put the Barons up three goals.

The Barons scored three of the second period's four goals to take control. Mulick scored at 11:58, and after Veilleux tallied for Houston at 16:26 to get the Aeros back within a goal, Zalesak capitalized on a helper from Boyes just 14 seconds later to push the advantage back to 4-2.

With only 46 seconds left in the second, the Barons broke through for their fifth goal, as Boyes scored with Houston's Jan Vodrazka in the box for tripping for his third in two games.

Schutte got the Aeros within 5-3 at 7:17 of the third, but Houston could get no closer despite outshooting Cleveland 14-6 in the third period and 33-18 over the final two stanzas.

Houston, which remained in a fifth-place tie with San Antonio with 40 points, went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Cleveland finished 1-for-4.
