Alaska Aces News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Jonathan Lessard's two goals and Ty Rimmer's 33 saves steered the Bakersfield Condors over the Alaska Aces, 6-3 in the first matchup of the season before a crowd of 2,553 at Rabobank Arena on Thursday.
Tim Coffman gave the Aces their first lead of the season, 9:05 in when he rifled a wrister past Rimmer from the right circle. Bakersfield answered on Lessard's breakaway goal, after he bursted from the penalty box, at 16:05 for a 1-1 tie.
Three goals in the second period cost Niklas Lundstrom with his time in net, lifted for Andy Iles after Lessard's second goal of the game. Jordan Kremyr lifted Bakersfield to a 2-1 lead just 40 seconds in, but Olivier Archambault slammed a redirection past Ty Rimmer from the slot just 30 seconds later for a 2-2 tie.
Graeme Craig converted a one timer at the right circle for his second goal of the season at 10:04 for a 3-2 lead, and Lessard converted off the rush with another one-timer past Lundstrom at 15:48 for a 4-2 edge.
Colin Joe's blast beat Iles upstairs to put the Aces in a 5-3 hole at 15:36 of the third period, but Chris Francis' first goal in an Aces uniform provided their first power play goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 5-3 with 1:45 left in regulation after Francis jammed a rebound over Rimmer.
Josh Currie's empty netter sealed the game with 30 seconds to play.
