Defenseman Frankie Simonelli Recalled to Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, announced today that defenseman Frankie Simonelli has been recalled to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

Simonelli, 21, skated in two games with the Stingrays this season earning one assist, his first professional point, on October 17 against the Florida Everglades. The Bensenville, Illinois, native begins his first full professional campaign this season after completing a four-year collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin and dressing in one game with Providence. In 155 games with the Badgers, the Bensenville, Illinois, product totaled 128 points (16 goals, 45 assists).

The Stingrays close a season-opening three-game road trip tonight, Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. against the Greenville Road Warriors at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Stingrays celebrate Opening Night on Saturday, October 25 at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum!
