Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals have recalled forward Mathieu Curadeau from the Fort Wayne Komets of the IHL, Admirals General Manager Mike Butters announced today.
Curadeau, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Montréal, Québec, has appeared in 12 games with the Admirals this season, scoring his first two career AHL goals to go along with 15 penalty minutes. Curadeau attended Admirals training camp and appeared in three preseason games, scoring one goal and one assist with six penalty minutes. Curadeau signed an AHL Standard Player's Contract with the Admirals on August 27.
Curadeau has appeared in 14 games for the Komets, scoring 13 goals and seven assists to go along with a +2 rating and 16 penalty minutes. Curadeau had been reassigned to Fort Wayne from Norfolk on Saturday. He played in the Komets' 4-3 shootout loss to the Flint Generals last night and scored a goal.
The 23-year-old is now in his second full professional year. Last season, he ranked second in goals and fourth in scoring with the Komets and helped them win the IHL's Turner Cup Championship. He also made his AHL debut in January, skating in one game with the Worcester Sharks.
Curadeau scored 37 goals and added 62 assists in 236 career junior games in the QMJHL between Val d'Or, Acadie-Bathurst and Gatineau. He also skated in 11 games with the University of Ottawa, tallying three goals and eight assists.
The Admirals will head back on the road for a three-game jaunt beginning on Wednesday in Portland, Maine, against the Pirates. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m.
The Admirals return to Scope to kick off a nine-game homestand with solid home games from January 7-30. The homestand begins for Norfolk against their East Division Rivals, the Hershey Bears, on January 7 at 7:15 p.m.
