Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, N.Y. - Jeff Frazee recorded 36 saves for his second shutout of the year as the Lowell Devils defeated the Albany River Rats, 1-0, on Tuesday night at the Times Union Center. The victory was the third in a row for the Devils and brought an end to their four-game road-losing streak.

After a scoreless two periods of play, the game's only goal came after an icing charged to the River Rats. The Devils' Michael Swift won the ensuing offensive-zone faceoff back to Matt Spiller, who fed the puck along the blueline for a one-timer by Anssi Salmela that trickled through the pads of Justin Peters and across the goal line at 6:18.

Frazee was brilliant in the final frame, making 20 saves in the period to preserve the win and his shutout. Albany thought it had tied the score on a wraparound attempt in the waning minutes of regulation, but the officials immediately waved off the goal. Lowell was 0-for-5 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
