
Houston Aeros add Smith and Adams to roster

HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros General Manager Tom Lynn announced today the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed C Darryl Smith to a professional tryout (PTO) and recalled D John Adams from the Corpus Christi IceRays.
Smith, 21 (3/3/87), has played all of the 2008-09 season with the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League (CHL). The St. Catharines, Ontario native has played in 29 games and was second on the team in scoring with 38 points (19-19=38). His 19 goals and five game-winning goals led the team. Prior to playing for the Bucks, the rookie center played three seasons in the QMJHL for the Gatineau Olympiques where he totaled 62 goals and 125 points in three seasons.
Adams, 25 (12/21/82), has played in four games this season with the Aeros in late October accounting for one assist and four penalty minutes. The Wayzata, Minnesota native has played in 21 games with CHL Corpus Christi and has 10 points (3-7=10) and 30 penalty minutes. He led all defensemen on the IceRays' roster at the time of his departure. In total, Adams has played in 13 games with the Aeros over the past two seasons with two points (0-2=2) and 10 penalty minutes. He has played a total of 39 games in the AHL with Springfield, Grand Rapids, Cleveland , Albany and Houston and has a goal and four assists with 32 penalty minutes overall.
The Aeros take on the Lake Erie Monsters tonight at Toyota Center at 7:05 p.m. before heading on the road for their longest road trip of the season (eight games).
