Chops Fall to Milwaukee 2-1 in Overtime

December 30, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release

The game began with both teams providing stingy defense, but momentum and shots quickly swung the Chops was and it paid off with the first goal of the game from forward Troy Bodie, who beat a defenseman one on one and fired a shot over the catching glove of goalie Mark Dekanich for a 1-0 lead. Ryan Donally and Ajay Baines posted assists. Iowa outshot the Admirals 14 to 4 in the period. The 2nd period saw Milwaukee breakthrough with a goal from Mike Santorelli who collected a rebound off Chops goalie David LeNeveu to tie the game at 1-1 after two periods. LeNeveu finished the period making some big saves on three straight Admirals power plays. After a stalemate in the 3rd period with both teams failing to score on multiple power play chances, the Admirals finished the game off in overtime as Alexander Sulzer found some open space at the bottom off the left face-off circle and beat goaltender David LeNeveu to the near side for the game-winner. The Chops do take a point, meaning they have recorded points in their last three games, but fall five points behind division-leading Milwaukee.
