Sound Tigers Recall Tarasuk, Sign Emmerson

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Mar. 11, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced Friday that they have recalled defenseman Steve Tarasuk from the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL and have signed forward Riley Emmerson to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Tarasuk, 21, attended Sound Tigers Training Camp prior to the start of the 2010-11 campaign and has played the entire season as a member of ECHL affliliate Kalamazoo, recording two goals and 19 assists in 56 games. Tarasuk made his professional debut during the Kelly Cup Playoffs last season with Utah and is set to make his AHL debut tonight in Providence.

Emmerson, a seventh-round draft choice, 199th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, comes to the Sound Tigers from the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. The 6'8, 248-pound forward has two assists and 117 penalty minutes in 40 games this season with Utah. Emmerson as appeared in 43 AHL games, the majority of them with the Rochester Americans, where he's recorded 107 penalty minutes
