Blues Send Scatchard Back to Peoria

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has assigned forward Dave Scatchard to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. The Rivermen have released forwards Jim McKenzie and Blair Riley from their professional tryout contracts (PTO).

Scatchard, 35, has dressed in 30 games for the Rivermen this season recording 13 points including four goals and nine assists. The 6'3, 220-pound forward has also made eight appearances for the Blues tallying one assist. The Hinton, Alberta native was signed by the Blues as a free agent on August 4, 2010.

McKenzie, 26, scored a goal in his only game with the Rivermen on Wednesday. This season he has appeared in 48 games for the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) and collected 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) and 79 penalty minutes. The 6'2", 210-pound winger has also seen action in two AHL games with Worcester on Nov. 27-28.

Originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round (#141 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, McKenzie has dressed in 146 ECHL games since finishing his three-year career at Michigan State University. He was part of the 2007 NCAA national championship team at MSU in his final season.

Riley, 25, joined Peoria from the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) on March 1. He collected two assists in five games with the Rivermen. In Las Vegas, he has 32 points (14g, 8a) in 49 games. He has also seen action in four games this year with the San Antonio Rampage between Dec. 29 and Jan. 2. He scored in his first game with the Rampage.

A rookie, the 6-foot, 210-pound winger appeared in three games last season with the Springfield Falcons after completing a four-year career at Ferris State University. In 147 games at the collegiate level, Riley accounted for 42 goals and 45 assists for 87 points to accompany 262 penalty minutes.
