Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Anchorage, AK - The Las Vegas Wranglers (5-1-7, 17 points) defeated the Alaska Aces (6-4-0, 12 points) 4-0 at Sullivan Arena on Tuesday night. Goalie Mike McKenna made 20 saves for his second career shutout.

Centers Aki Seitsonen and Chris Neiszner, as well as winger Marco Peluso and defenseman Ryan Bonni, each scored in the Las Vegas win. Las Vegas improved to 4-0-5 on the road this season and took sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division. The Wranglers remain in Alaska for a 2:05 pm (AST) face-off this Saturday.

The Wranglers wasted little time spoiling the Aces 2006 Kelly Cup Championship ring ceremony by scoring 16-seconds into the game. Center Tyler Mosienko found Marco Peluso alone in front of the Aces net for the first goal of the night. Peluso snapped his fourth goal of the season over the glove of Alaska's Derek Gustafson for the 1-0 lead. After an Olivier Fillion penalty for tripping, the Wranglers extended their lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal. Defenseman Ryan Bonni set up Aki Seitsonen for a one-timer that was placed over the blocker of Gustafson at 4:57 for the 2-0 lead.

In the second period, Las Vegas doubled their lead by duplicating their first period two-goal total. Center Chris Neiszner knocked in a rebound for his second goal of the season at 1:04 of the period. Neiszner's goal came off a Derek Edwardson shot. Ryan Bonni notched his second goal of the season just 1:20 later, as he feathered a puck through traffic to the back of the Aces net for the 4-0 lead. After the goal, Alaska pulled goalie Derek Edwardson, ending his evening with 10 saves on 14 Las Vegas shots in only 22:24 of play. Back up goalie Isaac Reichmuth replaced Gustafson and made five saves the rest of the period. Las Vegas held Alaska to only eight shots through the first two periods of play.

The scoreless third period was marred by a vicious cross check by Alaska's Hans Benson. Benson hit Wranglers defenseman Bryce Thomas, who was defenseless and sprawled out on the ice, numerous times to draw a five minute major for cross checking and a game misconduct with 2:37 to go in the game. Thoma was not injured on the play. A cross checking major calls for an automatic suspension unitl the play is reviewed by the ECHL.

Las Vegas will return home on Sunday, November 26th at 5:05 pm to face the Bakersfield Condors at the Orleans Arena. The first 2,000 fans receive a Mullet Wig with a pink headband.
