Columbia opened the scoring at the 8:01 mark of the first period on a goal by Chris St. Jacques as he beat Gwinnett netminder Dave Caruso on a breakaway. Mike Vellinga was able to thread a pass through the Gladiators defense to spring St. Jacques on the breakaway to set up the goal.
Jim Jackson equalized the contest with his 3rd goal of the season as he finished a 2-on-1 break and beat Columbia netminder Robert Gherson for the goal. Andy Contois fed Jackson on the break to pick up an assist on the marker. Mike Vigilante also had an assist on the goal, as he dug the puck off the dasher and pushed it along to Contois.
Gwinnett took a 2-1 lead on Colton Fretter's 10th goal of the season as he walked into the slot and beat Gherson with a snapshot from 20 feet out. Brad Schell and Jon Awe collected the assists on the go-ahead power play goal for Gwinnett.
Bruce Mulherin posted his first goal of the season as he picked up a loose puck along the left wing circle and beat Gherson to give the Gladiators a 3-1 lead with 9:34 left in the third period. Jamie Milam and Bryan Dobek posted the assists on the goal for Gwinnett.
Columbia cut the Gladiators lead to one goal at the 11:34 mark as Mac Faulkner beat Caruso with a snap shot from the slot. Lucas Drake collected the assist as he pushed the puck along to Faulkner but the Inferno could get no closer.
Caruso finished with 32 saves for the Gladiators as he picked up his 3rd win of the season to improve to 3-1-1 on the year. Gwinnett went 1-for-5 on the power play while holding the Inferno scoreless on 11 power play chances in the win.
