Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Wheeling Nailers tonight by a score of 4-2 at the Cambria County War Memorial.

Ryan Gibbons scored his second goal in as many games at the 2:12 mark of the second period, when a dump-in attempt by Ian MacLean took a kooky bounce off of a stanchion in the glass and landed on the stick of Ryan Gibbons, who easily put the puck into the net that Wheeling goaltender Andy Franck had vacated seconds earlier.

Tim Wallace would tie the game at two at 19:59 of the second, picking up the rebound of a shot by Sean Collins in the waning seconds of the period.

Johnstown started the third period with a bang, as Adam Henrich banged home the rebound of Maxime Boisclair's shot just twenty seconds in. Henrich would get his second point of the game when he stole the puck away from Wheeling's Daniel Fernholm and made a crisp pass across to Randy Rowe, who beat Franck high to the glove side. Zbynek Hrdel would add an insurance goal at 12:26 with the Chiefs on the power play.

Jordan Cameron scored for Wheeling at the 19:21 mark of the third, but it wasn't enough to get the Nailers back into the game, as the Chiefs held on to the lead.

The Chiefs play Dayton at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow, and visit Reading next Friday before returning home to face the Trenton Titans next Saturday, November 25, at 7:00 P.M. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at the War Memorial Box Office, or by calling (814) 536-5156 or 1 (800) CHF-TIXX.
