Greiss Recalled to San Jose

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that goaltender Thomas Greiss has been recalled by the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks. Greiss will serve as the Sharks back-up goaltender tomorrow night when the Sharks host the Philadelphia Flyers.

Greiss was assigned to the Falcons on Tuesday after starting this season with the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks. In his Fresno debut on Wednesday, Greiss turned aside 27 shots in the Falcons 3-1 win over Utah.

San Jose's third round selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Greiss was 1-2-0 in three games with Worcester this season. He spent the previous two seasons in his native Germany, playing for Cologne of the DEL. Last year, he finished third in the league in save percentage (.926) and sixth in goals against average (2.46).

The Falcons are back in action tomorrow, once again hosting the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. It's Scout Night with the Falcons, and the first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Falcons schedule cup courtesy of CBS 47 On Your Side and 93.7 KISS Country.
