July 18, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces that Hockey Services is the newest tenant at the Wings Stadium Complex.
Hockey Services began operations in 1987 as a division of Golf Services, Inc., which has built a reputation as a leader in golf merchandise retailing dedicated to servicing the golfing public. Hockey Services has operated under this same philosophy and has succeeded in becoming Southwest Michigan's leading ice hockey and figure skating merchandise retailer.
Besides being the leading retailer in skating merchandise in Southwestern Michigan, Hockey Services is now the Official Provider of K-Wings Merchandise. Hockey Services will be rotating K-Wings apparel once a week during the season to make sure K-Wing fans have new and different merchandise to choose from.
"Hockey Services has an outstanding reputation in Western Michigan, and I'm excited they are going to be the Official Provider of K-Wings Merchandise," said Wings Stadium Vice President/General Manager Paul Pickard. "We have developed a solid relationship with Hockey Services, and with them as a partner in our building, it will only strengthen our relationship."
The company founded by former K-Wing, the late Steve Banonis and Chris Kooi out of a small corner of Golf Services pro shop, but has since grown to include a full services pro shop with now two locations. Kooi is a still a major part of Hockey Services, as he serves as one of three principal owners.
Since 1993, Hockey Services expanded operations in other areas including a successful mail order division through their website at www.hockeyservices.com. Hockey Services is dedicated to providing Southwest Michigan with quality ice hockey, figure skating and ice-skating merchandise and equipment. Besides their newest location in Wings Stadium, they also have a store at 6958 West Main.
"Wings Stadium is a perfect fit for us," said Store Manager of Hockey Services, Brad Johnson. "Both Wings Stadium and Hockey Services have contributed to the growth of hockey in Southwestern Michigan."
Hockey Services hours of operation at Wings Stadium are as follows: Monday-Friday 12-9 PM, Saturday 9 AM-5 PM, and Sunday 12-5 PM.
