July 18, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride today released their 2002-2003 regular-season schedule. The 72-game set will open on Friday, October 11, with the Pride hosting their archrivals, the South Carolina Stingrays
Pee Dee will open the season with a four-game homestand, hosting Columbia on Saturday, October 12, and Florida on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19.
Of the Pride's 72 games, 50 of them will take place against Southeast Division rivals. The Pride will square off against Augusta, Columbia and South Carolina nine times apiece, against Florida and Greenville eight times, and will see Columbus seven times. Only one game will take place against a Southwest Division team: at home against Jackson on February 15.
The 2002-2003 season will give the Pride an opportunity to see several teams from the Northern Conference. Pee Dee will play 10 of the 14 teams in the Northern Conference for a total of 21 games. The Pride will play five teams for the first time ever this season, hosting Cincinnati, Dayton, Peoria and Lexington at the Lion's Den, while travelling to Atlantic City for a game against the Boardwalk Bullies.
Once again this season, the Pride will have an extended road trip starting at the end of January. Starting with a pair of games at Trenton on January 24 and 25, Pee Dee will play seven straight contests away from home. The longest homestand of the year is a five-game set, taking place from January 7 through January 17. The Pride's busiest stretch of the campaign starts on February 11 at Greenville. Starting with that contest, the Pride will play six games in eight days and nine games in 13 days.
"Now that the schedule has been released, we are really excited because that means the season is upon us," Pride Senior VP Jack Capuano said. "We want all of the people in the Pee Dee to come out to the games to support our team, and enjoy family, affordable entertainment."
Game times for the 2002-2003 season will remain the same. Monday through Thursday games will start at 7:00, Friday and Saturday games at 7:30, and Sunday matinees at 2:30.
Season tickets remain on sale for the Pride's sixth season in Florence. For more information, or to place your order, visit the Pride offices, located at the Florence Civic Center, or call (843) 669-7825. Individual game tickets will go on sale in September.
