Chiefs 2002-2003 Schedule Announced
July 18, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA-The East Coast Hockey League announced the 2002-2003 season playing schedule today. This year the ECHL will feature 27 teams, playing in 15 states. The Chiefs will play thirteen of those teams at least once this season.
The Chiefs begin the 2002-2003 campaign on Friday, October 11th at Dayton. They open up the home schedule the following night, Saturday, October 12th against the Toledo Storm at 7:30 p.m. Game times will remain the same for all Chiefs home games this season with weekday games beginning at 7:00 p.m., Fri-Sat night games at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday games are a 2:30 p.m. face-off. The Chiefs will also be playing in their annual New Year's Eve Game at 6:00 p.m. when they face the Richmond Renegades. The regular season concludes on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at home against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
"It is always great when we get our schedule. We know who we are playing, when we are playing. It is great to see that 70% of our games are against Northwest division opponents. It means every game counts. I am looking forward to the new season starting," said Chiefs Head Coach Toby O'Brien.
The Chiefs have a very fan friendly schedule this season as 30 home games will be played on the weekend (10 Friday, 16 Saturday, 4 Sunday). Special ticket packages are available for those weekend dates.
"Once again we feel that having weekend dates is critical for our fans. Having 30 out of 36 of our home games is a great selling point for our staff, as our "Drive to Stay Alive continues," said Director of Business Operations Jim Brazill.
Chiefs fans will also get to see the Augusta (GA) Lynx for the first time at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena on Wednesday, January 29th. Lexington, KY (nickname TBA) will also be a new team the Chiefs will take on as they join Northwest division. Lexington plays in Johnstown four times this season.
Chiefs season tickets are now available. For more information call (814) 539-1799 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT.
