
ECHL's Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl Announce 2002-03 Schedule

GREENVILLE, SC â The East Coast Hockey League's 2002 Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl have announced their schedule for the 2002-03 season. The Grrrowl will open their fifth season in the ECHL on the road Friday October 11th versus the Charlotte Checkers and will raise their championship banners the following night at the BI-LO Center against the South Carolina Stingrays.

"It offers Grrrowl fans the renewal of many great rivalries, as well as a look at some exciting new opponents. It truly is a lineup worthy of a championship city like Greenville!"
The 2002-03 schedule will feature 72 games, 36 at home and 36 on the road, and 18 different opponents including five teams the Grrrowl did not play last season: the Jackson Bandits, Reading Royals, Cincinnati Cyclones, Peoria Rivermen and the relocated Macon Whoopee who will call Lexington, Kentucky home. The Grrrowl will visit Jackson on Saturday November 9th, Reading on Friday and Saturday January 10th and 11th and Lexington on Friday January 17th. Cincinnati will visit Greenville on Tuesday February 18th while Peoria will come to the BI-LO Center on Thursday March 20th. The meetings with Reading, Cincinnati, Peoria and Lexington will also be the first-ever for the Grrrowl.
The Grrrowl will also host two teams, the Richmond Renegades and Roanoke Express, they did not host last season. Richmond will visit on Friday November 29th and Saturday March 22nd while Roanoke will do so on Saturday March 8th. The Grrrowl visited both teams last season.
The overall schedule is well balanced with the Grrrowl playing seven games in October; 13 apiece in November, February and March; 12 in January and 14 in December. January will also feature the ECHL All-Star Game which will be hosted by the Florida Everblades on January Tuesday 21st.
The Grrrowl will play the majority of their home schedule on Saturday, 15 games, as well as five Tuesday, one Wednesday, two Thursday, eight Friday and five Sunday. Start times for home games will be determined and released in the near future.
