
Whitecaps Sink Captains 3-1

Lake County Captains News Release
(Comstock Park, MI)- Dominic Ficociello singled home Harold Castro to add an insurance run to the lead, and eventual win over the Lake County Captains by a final of 3-1. Ficociello's hit came in the seventh inning and was the hit that put the game out of reach. Lake County has lost three straight.
Lake County (9-23) scored first. In the top of the second inning, Paul Hendrix led off the inning with a solo homerun. The round tripper was Hendrix's third of the season. The homer extended his hitting streak to six ballgames. The Captains led 1-0.
West Michigan (19-13) took the lead with a two-run fourth inning. Tyler Gibson and Willy Adames hit back-to-back singles to begin the frame. Bennent Pickar hit a ground ball and Gibson, who was on third base, came in to score to tie the game at 1-1. Adames moved to second. Adames then took third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brett Harrison. The score was 2-1.
RHP Dace Kime (0-5) started for the Captains and took the tough loss. Kime pitched four and one third innings, and allowed four hits, two earned runs, three walks and had three strikeouts. LHP Luis Lugo pitched three and two thirds innings in relief and allowed four hits, one earned run, one walk and six strikeouts.
RHP Buck Farmer (4-2) started for West Michigan. Farmer earned the win after pitching six innings and allowing six hits, one earned run and three walks. Farmer struck out six. Montreal Robinson earned the save after pitching three innings of shutout baseball. Robinson allowed just a pair of hits, two walks and four strikeouts. The save was the fifth of the season for Robinson.
The Captains will conclude the road trip Wednesday in Comstock Park, Michigan to play the finale of a three game series. The Captains will start RHP Jordan Milbrath (1-1, 1.26) and the Whitecaps will counter with RHP Austin Kubitza (3-0, 2.15). First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM from Fifth Third Ballpark.
