Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
FORT WAYNE, IND. - For the fifth consecutive year, the TinCaps are one of the Top 25 best-selling brands among Minor League Baseball's 160 teams. The news of Minor League Baseball merchandise sales for 2013 was first reported nationally on Monday by SportsBusiness Journal. Fort Wayne has made the list in each year of the TinCaps' existence.
"Fans in our community love our logo," said TinCaps Merchandise Manager Jen Wall.
But the popularity of the Fort Wayne logo isn't limited to the Summit City. In the last year, TinCaps merchandise was purchased online at TinCaps.com from 42 states, Canada, and even overseas. In addition, the TinCaps are one of only 36 clubs contracted with the Minor League Baseball Replica Program, which allows Little League teams from across the country to wear the TinCaps logo on their uniforms, too.
And the TinCaps logo is more than just an emblem on a hat. The franchise's retail success is also a product of the experience fans have when visiting Parkview Field.
"There's nothing better than to be out on the streets, whether in Fort Wayne, or out-of-town, and seeing folks with the TinCaps logo on," TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. "We appreciate the way fans in our community and elsewhere have embraced the TinCaps and hope they take pride in wearing our attire."
The Orchard Team Store isn't only open on days when the TinCaps have games. Parkview Field's shop is also open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on non-games (and opens at 10:00 a.m. on game days, as well). Plus, during the Christmas season, the TinCaps have a Holiday Store at Fort Wayne's Glenbrook Square Mall.
Of the teams who made the Top 25 list, the TinCaps are one of just seven in Class-A. According to Minor League Baseball, 2013 produced the second highest sales figure for its licensing program since its inception in 1992 and the highest since 1994.
New items in The Orchard Team Store include Under Armour products, which were licensed by Minor League Baseball for the first time this year, and Josh VanMeter t-shirt jerseys.
