Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, Ill.- In Will Remillard's first 19 at-bats of the season, he recorded just two hits. Since a five-RBI effort against Dayton in April, Remillard has batted .500 and has driven in 21 runs for the Cougars, with one home run. The Cougar catcher shined again on Tuesday evening, driving in four runs with three hits, including a bases-clearing double. The offense pulled out once again for the Cougars (23-9) as they picked up their 11th straight win at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark with a 8-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (13-18).
Both teams scored a run in alternate innings through the first four frames. Wisconsin jumped out to a one-run advantage twice, but the Cougars retaliated with a run the next following frame.
Tied 2-2, the Cougars put pressure on Wisconsin's starter Preston Gainey. Yasiel Balaguert led off the frame with a single and moved all the way to third after Gainey threw a couple of wild pitches. Jacob Rogers drew a walk to put runners at the corners and Remillard punched in his first run with a single. Rogers scored on a Wisconsin error, and the Cougars had their first lead at the end of an inning up 4-2.
In the seventh, the Cougars managed to load the bases on a Ben Carhart single and back-to-back walks to Balaguert and Rogers. Then Remillard busted open the Cougars lead with a three-run double to left field pushing the Cougars ahead 7-2.
The Timber Rattlers committed two errors in the eighth inning that allowed the Cougars to tack on another run for an 8-2 advantage.
Daury Torrez (4-1) worked his third quality start with six inning of two-run baseball. Jose Arias pitched in with two perfect relief frames. Preston Gainey (1-2) suffered the loss exiting the fifth inning with three earned runs charged to him on four hits and four walks.
The series between the Cougars and the Timber Rattlers will conclude on Wednesday for an 11:00 a.m. first pitch at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Juan Paniagua (0-1, .31) will toss for the Cougars against Wisconsin's Taylor Williams (1-0, 3.67). Tickets can be purchased by calling 630-232-8811 or visiting kccougars.com.
