Early Offense Snaps Streak

(Burlington-IA)- The Bees snapped a season long five game losing streak on Tuesday afternoon with a 4-3 win over the Clinton LumberKings at Community Field.

Clinton jumped on the board first after Bees' starter Victor Alcantara walked in a run in the top of the first inning.

The Bees answered in the bottom of the second on a Kody Eaves two run double, giving the Bees a 2-1 lead.

With the score tied at two in the third inning, Trevor Gretzky tripled down the right field line, scoring Angel Rosa and giving the Bees a 3-2 lead.

The Bees scored for the third straight inning when Erick Salcedo scored what would be the winning run, scoring on a throwing error and the Bees led 4-2 after four innings.

The Bees were able to hang on and took game two of the series by the score of 4-3. Michael Smith (2-1) picked up the win in relief for the Bees while Clinton starter Carlos Misell (4-2) was charged with the loss. With the win the Bees improve their record to 16-14.

The Bees wrap up a three game series with the Clinton LumberKings Tuesday night at 6:30 PM at Community Field. Garrett Nuss pitches for the Bees and Jose Flores goes for the LumberKings.
