Dayton Dragons News Release

DAYTON, OHIO-Dayton Dragons games on Thursday, May 8; Friday, May 9; and Saturday, May 10 will be televised from Fifth Third Field on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (channel 23 and digital channel 372 on most Time Warner Cable systems in the Miami Valley). The games are available to more than 500,000 households.

WHIO TV Sports Director Mike Hartsock will serve as the guest commentator on Thursday. On Friday, former Reds second baseman Ron Oester, a 2014 inductee into the Reds Hall-of-Fame, will handle the commentator duties. Former Reds infielder Chris Sexton will be the guest commentator on Saturday.

Sponsors for Dragons television broadcasts include Dayton Power & Light, IUE-CWA, Smoothie King, Alliance for Consumer Education, Greater Ohio Virtual School, Gamin' Ride, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cohen Recycling, IWORKS, Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors, Courtyard by Marriott Dayton South, and Voss Auto.

Hartsock has served as Sports Director at WHIO TV since 1989 and has been covering sports for the station since 1982. He has covered three Super Bowls, the 1990 World Series, the 1996 Olympics, and the 2002 BCS Championship Game. He was born in Waynesville and is a lifelong resident of the Miami Valley.

Oester spent his entire 13-year Major League career with the Reds and appeared in more games at second base than all but two players in franchise history. He broke in as a 22-year-old rookie in 1978 and became the Reds starting second baseman in 1980. An outstanding defensive second baseman, his best season at the plate came in 1985 when he batted .295. He retired after the Reds 1990 World Series championship and spent six seasons with the Reds as a Major League coach.

Chris Sexton enjoyed a 10-year professional playing career, spending parts of two seasons in the Major Leagues with the Colorado Rockies in 1999 and the Reds in 2000. He is a product of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati and Miami University. He was inducted into the Miami University Athletics Hall-of-Fame in 2002 and is one of only two players in school history to win the Mid American Conference Player of the Year award. He still holds the single-season school record for highest batting average, hitting .429 in 1993.

The Dragons will televise 25 games from Fifth Third Field this season. The telecasts are produced by the Dragons' in-house production crew. Each telecast will feature a special guest commentator who will work with Dragons play-by-play announcer Tom Nichols. In addition to the guests this week, others expected to appear on telecasts are:
