This Week:

12/21 & 12/22 vs. Cincinnati:

The Chiefs are still looking for their first win this season against the Cyclones after dropping two games in Cincinnati last weekend. The last time Johnstown played host to the Cyclones, they did well to hold the ECHL's highest scoring offense to two goals (one empty-netter), but were unable to score any of their own. The shutout loss was the only one for the Chiefs so far this year. The Chiefs are lead against Cincinnati by Andrew Martens (1G, 2A) and Tyler Hirsch (3A) with three points each.

Last Week:

12/14 & 12/16 at Cincinnati: L 6-2, 8-2

The Chiefs saw their all-time record against Cincy fall to 15-16-6 after dropping two games at U.S. Bank Arena. The Cyclones used strong first periods in both games, outscoring Johnstown 7-0, to snare the momentum early and not turn back. The Chiefs were able to keep Cincinnati's high-powered power play in check in Friday's contest going 8-for-8 on the penalty kill, but struggled on Sunday allowing three man-advantage goals in eight tries.

12/15 at Dayton: L 8-3

Sandwiched in between the Cincinnati games was a stop in Troy, Ohio for a game against the Dayton Bombers in their home away from home, Hobart Arena. The Bombers proved to be unkind hosts, especially Yannick Tifu (5A), and Matt Beaudoin (3G, 2A) who led the charge with five points each. Tyler Hirsch provided some excitement for Johnstown fans when he scored his first pro goal 18 seconds into the second period. Hirsch would finish the weekend with four points (1G, 3A) in four games.

New Position? No Problem:

With four forwards who began the season seeing regular power play time unavailable last weekend, defenseman Brandon Straub found himself in a somewhat unfamiliar place. Straub was put on the top power play unit as a forward, and adjusted quite well. He scored his first professional goal in the second period of Friday's game in Cincinnati, and then briefly tied the game against Dayton in the first with a well-placed backhand shot, also on the power play. Straub has already scored half as many goals this season (2) as he did in his entire college career between the University of Findlay and Colorado College (4).
