December 17, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

The Salmon Kings concluded their three games in three days California road trip versus the Fresno Falcons on Sunday. The Kings had split the first two games of the trip and were looking to finish above .500 on the road prior to the Christmas break.

Victoria got on the board first when Ryan Wade blasted a point shot past Falcons goaltender Jake Moreland. The game took on a rough edge in the second half of the period resulting in the Kings' Robin Gomez being given a game misconduct as well as Falcons Daryl Marcoux and Josh Ciocco assessed the same fate. With less than four minutes remaining rookie Dylan Yeo blasted a point shot past Moreland after Kiel McLeod won the faceoff giving the Kings a 2-0 lead after one period of play.

The second period began with a hectic pace and it was Fresno who was the first to capitalize on it. Oren Eizenman scored for the Falcons beating the Kings' Billy Thompson 1:48 into the period. The Falcons would tie it up 2-2 a few minutes later when Jarrett Konkle beat Thompson. The Kings would retake the lead when Paul Ballantyne blasted a shot past Moreland. Before the period would end, on a 5-3 power play, John Morlang snapped a shot past the glove hand of Thompson to send the teams to the locker rooms tied 3-3 after 40 minutes.

The Kings came out on a mission in the third period. It began when Marc-Andre Bernier swatted the puck in the net as it bounced in the crease after a Dylan Yeo shot for the 4-3 lead five minutes into the period. Less than two minutes later Bernier tipped in a Ballantyne point shot for the 5-3 advantage. Gary Gladue and Daryl Lloyd would add markers before the game would end. Salmon Kings 7 Falcons 3.

Victoria went 3-6 50.0% and Fresno was 1-11 9.1% on the power play. Victoria outshot Fresno 38-36.

The Salmon Kings now return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on December 19th, 21st and 22nd to take on last year's playoff opponent the Alaska Aces. All games begin at 7:05 p.m. Call 220-7889 for tickets.
