VICTORIA SALMON KINGS GAME NOTES

Wednesday, December 19th vs. Alaska Aces

SALMON KINGS HEADLINES: The Salmon Kings concluded their three games in three days California road trip versus the Fresno Falcons on Sunday. Victoria got on the board first when Ryan Wade blasted a point shot past Falcons goaltender Jake Moreland. With less than four minutes remaining rookie Dylan Yeo blasted a point shot past Moreland giving the Kings a 2-0 lead after one period of play. The second period began with a hectic pace, and it was Fresno who was the first to capitalize. Oren Eizenman scored for the Falcons beating the Kings' Billy Thompson 1:48 into the period. The Falcons would tie it up 2-2 a few minutes later when Jarrett Konkle scored. The Kings would retake the lead when Paul Ballantyne blasted a shot past Moreland. Before the period would end, on a 5-3 power play, John Morlang snapped a shot past the glove hand of Thompson to send the teams to the locker rooms tied 3-3 after 40 minutes. The Kings came out on a mission in the third period. It began when Marc-Andre Bernier swatted the puck in the net as it bounced in the crease after a Dylan Yeo shot for the 4-3 lead five minutes into the period. Less than two minutes later Bernier tipped in a Ballantyne point shot for the 5-3 advantage. Gary Gladue and Daryl Lloyd would add markers before the game would end. Salmon Kings 7 Falcons 3. Victoria went 3-6 50.0% and Fresno was 1-11 9.1% on the power play. Victoria outshot Fresno 38-36.

CAREER WATCH: Jordan Krestanovich hit the 250 point plateau for his professional career on Saturday night. Jordan Krestanovich and Ryan Wade are one goal shy of 50 for their ECHL careers. Billy Thompson collected his 60th professional win Saturday night.

ECHL TOP 10: Ash Goldie is tied for fifth in goals (15), is tied for the league lead in power play goals (9), and is tied for fifth in game winning goals (3). Wes Goldie is tied for first in shorthanded goals (2) and is tied for the lead in game winning goals (4) as well. Marc-Andre Bernier is tied for fifth in game winning goals (3g). Billy Thompson is tied for 10th for most wins (7).

STREAKS: Jordan Krestanovich has points in six straight games (4g-5a). Ash Goldie has 10 points in seven of the last eight games (4g-6a). Kiel McLeod has assists (4a) in three straight games. Gary Gladue (2g) and Marc-Andre Bernier (3g) have scored goals in consecutive games.

CONTRACT PLAYERS: The Salmon Kings have five players under contract to NHL and AHL teams... Marc-Andre Bernier (Vancouver, NHL), Patrick Coulombe (Vancouver, NHL), Daniel Rahimi (Vancouver, NHL), Matt Kelly (Manitoba, AHL) and Dylan Yeo (Manitoba, AHL).

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Salmon Kings are fifth in the ECHL going 29-137 (21.2%) on the power play, and are ninth in the league on the penalty kill by stopping their opponents 84.3% (113-134) of the time.

THE ROSTER: Victoria is currently carrying 19 players; (11 forwards, 7 defensemen and 1 goalie)

UPCOMING GAMES: The Kings return to Victoria on Wednesday, December 19th to take on last year's playoff opponent the Alaska Aces in the first of three games at 7:05 p.m. The Aces and Kings will also meet on December 21st and 22nd at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
