Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA - The most famous line in hockey will be making their return to the War Memorial Arena on Saturday night as the Hanson Brothers make their first appearance in five seasons at the arena where they stared with the Johnstown Jets and fictional Charleston Chiefs. The event is sponsored by the Tribune Democrat. The Chiefs will be taking on the Cincinnati Cyclones with face off at 7:00 p.m.

"This will be another exciting night of Chiefs hockey Saturday," said Chiefs Vice President Kevin McGeehan. "The Hanson's act is always a laugh for the fans. They are some of the most recognizable faces in hockey and when they come back to the place where it all started for them, they step it up a notch!"

Steve, Dave and Jeff will be signing autographs and taking photos with fans during the first and second periods. Copies of the Tribune Democrat's book "Slap Shots and Snapshots: 50 Years of Professional Hockey in Johnstown," will be available for purchase at the game as well.

The Hanson's will also be involved in the pre game ceremonies and first and second intermission activities.

Portrayed as the Hanson Brothers in the 1977 film "Slap Shot," Steve and Jeff Carlson along with Dave Hanson became hockey icons as they gooned it up for the Charleston Chiefs in the Federal League. At the time of the filming of "Slap Shot," all three were stars for the Johnstown Jets. Steve Carlson would later go on to become the coach of the Johnstown Chiefs from 1988-1992.

The Chiefs have two games prior to the Christmas Break as they host the Cincinnati Cyclones Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for all upcoming home games are now on sale at the Cambria County War Memorial Box office or by calling (814) 536-5156 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
