March 7, 2003: Leafs 2 Vs. Crunch 5

Rookie Brad Boyes was traded to San Jose in the ballyhooed Owen Nolan deal, while Alexei Ponikarovsky and Aaron Gavey were recalled by the parent club in Toronto who are gearing up for a run at their first Stanley Cup title since 1967. The Baby Leafs (23-38-5-1) are sitting in 13th place in the Eastern conference trailing 10th place Springfield by nine points with the Falcons holding a game in hand. Albany is eleventh with 58 points followed by Saint John at 54 and the Leafs with 52. The Flames hold three games in hand on St. John's and Albany and two on Springfield. Syracuse rolled into town with the third worst overall record in the AHL but left with a four game winning streak intact after a 5-2 win on Friday and 7-4 decision Saturday evening. Brad Leeb broke a nine game goal scoring drought in the series opener, scoring both Leaf markers, his 27th and 28th of the season and was named the Molson Canadian second star plus the Grub Club hardest working Maple Leaf player of the game.

March 8, 2003: Leafs 4 Vs. Crunch 7

Mathieu Darche and defenseman Darrel Scoville each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Syracuse Crunch past the St. John's Maple Leafs, 5-2. Darche assisted Don MacLean on his third tally midway through the first period, tying the score at 1-1, and capped the scoring on his team-leading 25th of the season with 4:35 remaining in the contest. Scoville set up Tim Jackman for his eighth marker with 7:59 left in the third period for a 3-2 lead and scored his third of the year 2:23 later. Pascal Leclaire stopped 30 shots, including all 18 in the second frame, to win consecutive starts for just the second time this season. Mike Pandolfo added his sixth of the season in the first frame and Blake Bellefeuille chipped in with a pair of helpers for Syracuse, which has won three straight for the first time since November 15-17. Brad Leeb ended a nine-game goal drought with his fifth two-goal game of the season and Mikael Tellqvist made 27 saves for St. John's, which has lost seven of its last nine
