
Moss selected AHL Player of the Week

Today the American Hockey League announced that Manitoba Moose goaltender Tyler Moss has been named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 9, 2003. In three games, Moss won all three games, had one shutout and stopped 106 out of 109 shots during the week's action for the Moose.
The Ottawa, ON native started the week with a 36 save performance against the East Division leading Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the 4-2 win on Mar. 5. He made 29 stops in the 5-1 win over North Division leading Providence Bruins on Mar. 7. Moss established a season team-high 41 save game against Saint John Flames during a 3-0 shutout win on Mar. 8. The veteran netminder extended his personal winning streak to five games and unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) since Feb. 19. Moss earned first star honours on Mar. 8 and a second star selection on Mar. 5. Moss finished the week with a record of 3-0-0, a 1.00 Avg. and a ..972 Save Pct.
This was the second time a Moose player was selected for Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week honours during the 2002-03 season (first time: Justin Kurtz for week ending Feb. 2). Overall, this is the fourth Moose player to be named AHL Player of the Week. Steve Kariya was the first (week ending Oct. 14/02) and goaltender Alex Auld selected for the week ending Dec. 30/02.
In recognition of winning the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week, Moss will receive a leather jacket, presented to him during an on-ice ceremony prior to an upcoming game. In addition, Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to the Sinclair Park Panthers in Moss's name.
Moss, 27, has played in 31 games for Manitoba this season and posted a 15-11-4 record, two shutouts with a 2.97 Avg. and a Save Pct. of .902. He was recalled twice this season and has played one NHL game this season with the Vancouver Canucks, stopping 13 shots in 22:27 in the Dec. 23 match versus the Colorado Avalanche for a 2.73 Avg. and .929 Save Pct. Last season, Moss played in 43 AHL games for the Lowell Lock Monsters, posting a 20-16-7 record with a 2.47 Avg. and a Save Pct. of .929.
