Amerks battle Syracuse three times in three nights

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans' road to the Calder Cup playoffs runs through Syracuse this week. The Amerks play four critical Central Division games in five nights, which includes three contests against the Syracuse Crunch.

Rochester (24-27-13-4, 65 points) enters the week in second place in the Central Division and holds the 10th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Rochester, however, is only three points out of seventh place in the conference. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (68 points) hold the seventh spot in the playoff race.

The Amerks play four games in five nights this week as they try to fight their way up the standings. The Amerks are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Albany River Rats. Rochester has lost two straight and has gone 5-5-0-0 in its last 10 games.

The Amerks begin the week at home against the Cleveland Barons on Wednesday, March 12th. Rochester has a 5-1-1 record against the Barons this season. Cleveland (21-37-4-4, 50 points) is in fifth place in the Central Division. The game on Wednesday night is a 7:05 p.m. start and will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com. The game will be shown tape delayed on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. Following Wednesday's game, fans can meet the players at Nathaniel's Pub (251 Exchange Blvd.) at the official postgame party.

The week ends with a three-game in three-nights stretch against the rival Syracuse Crunch. The Crunch (21-35-6-4, 52 points) are in fourth place in the division. The Crunch have won four straight games and have climbed to within eight points of the third place Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (60 points). The Amerks are 4-1-1-1 against Syracuse this season.

The series against Syracuse begins on Friday, March 14th at 7:30 p.m. at the Onondaga County War Memorial. The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com. The series stays in Syracuse on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The three-game set ends in Rochester on Sunday, March 16th for a 6:05 p.m. game at The Blue Cross Arena. The games on Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast on WHAM 1180-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com. The Sunday game will be shown tape delayed on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Saturday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. After Sunday's game, Norm Milley and Francois Methot will sign autographs in the lower atrium lobby to promote the Rochester American Summer Hockey Camp (August 4-8 and August 11-15).
