SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League today announced that they have released defenseman Mike Vellinga from his professional try-out.
Vellinga, 24, appeared in three games with the Rampage, registering an assist in San Antonio's 4-2 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Mar. 5. He returns to the East Coast Hockey League's Dayton Bombers, where he has recorded 21 points (2-19-21) in 48 games.
The Rampage open up an eight-game homestand tomorrow night when they battle their intrastate rivals the Houston Aeros at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on KTKR "The Ticket" 760 AM with Andrew Monaco calling all the action.
