
Walleye Sweep Royals with a 4-2 Win

(Reading, PA) - Shane Berschbach scored twice with an assist in a 4-2 win Saturday night in Reading. Toledo has an overall record of 20-10-1-3 and 13-6-1-2 on the road. The Walleye defeated Reading 3-1 on Friday night.
The two teams traded chances in the first period but the Royals took a 1-0 lead at 17:11 when defenseman Mike Marcou beat Walleye goaltender Jeff Lerg with a shot from the right circle. The second period saw four goals scored and a 3-2 Toledo lead.
A.J. Jenks (10th) fired a one-timer past Royals goaltender just 20 seconds into the second period to even the score at one. Reading regained the lead 2-1 with a power play goal at 4:38. Toledo's power play found the back of the net when Jenks fed a goalmouth pass to Shane Berschbach (9th) for the goal. Dane Walters picked up his second goal of the season when he deflected a pass at the Walleye blue line and raced in to score on a breakaway just 45 seconds after Toledo had tied the game.
In the third period, Toledo held the Royals offense in check and Shane Berschbach put the finishing touches on the scoring with an empty net goal at 18:25.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg stopped 25 of 27 shots and has a record of 15-4-0-2 on the season. Toledo has a record of 15-2-0-1 when leading after two periods of play. Tonight's game was the 600th in the pro career of defenseman Jared Nightingale.
