Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

Moosic, PA - New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit has begun a Major League rehab assignment with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Voit will be in the RailRiders' lineup tonight when they host the Worcester Red Sox at PNC Field at 7:05 PM.

Voit was placed on the Yankees' Injured List July 13 with left knee inflammation. This season, the first baseman is hitting .241 with three home runs and 11 runs batted in over 29 games played.

This stint marks Voit's third with the RailRiders on a MLB rehab assignment. He was with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at the outset of the season on rehab after left meniscus surgery during Spring Training. Voit returned to the Yankees on May 11 and played 12 games before an oblique injury sent him back to the injured list. He played once for the RailRiders in June when the club was on the road against Buffalo in Trenton.

The RailRiders have had Voit, Zack Britton, Darren O'Day, Ryan LaMarre and Justin Wilson with them at various points this season on Major League rehab assignments.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre begins a 12-game, 13-day homestand this evening. Worcester and Lehigh Valley head to Moosic as the RailRiders play back-to-back home series. Tickets are available at swbrailriders.com.
