Bandy, Fitzgerald Go Deep as WooSox Win Fourth in a Row

Worcester Red Sox News Release
MOOSIC, P.A. - The Worcester Red Sox (42-35) scored in each of the first three innings on the way to series-opening 7-2 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (47-27) at PNC Field on Tuesday night.
The WooSox began the night by loading the bases against SWB starter Matt Krook (2-3) in the first. With one out, Jhonny Pereda worked a five-pitch RBI walk, and after a strikeout, Tate Matheny drew a run-scoring walk to put Worcester on top 2-0.
In the next two frames, the WooSox bats did the work to extend their lead. Ryan Fitzgerald and Jeremy Rivera singled in the second, and after a Jeter Downs walk, Josh Ockimey grounded a ball to the left side-away from the shift-for an infield RBI single.
Then, in the third, Jett Bandy crushed a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall to make it 4-0. The long ball marked Bandy's third in the last week after the catcher's two-homer game on Thursday.
An inning later, Yairo Muñoz extended his hit streak to 25 games with a single. The 25-game stretch ties Jacob Ellsbury (2007) for the longest hit streak in Red Sox Triple-A history.
On the mound, Kutter Crawford tossed five innings of one-run ball along with nine strikeouts. In just his second Worcester start and his first win, the right-hander's lone run allowed came in the second inning after a triple by Rob Brantly, followed by a balk call.
The RailRiders added one more in the sixth, a solo shot from Luke Voit, on a Major League rehab assignment from New York. But the WooSox delivered another crooked number in the eighth, plating three runs. Two of the three came on a home run by Ryan Fitzgerald, the first of his Triple-A career after he cracked 10 with AA-Portland to start the year.
Kevin McCarthy and Matt Hall pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth, respectively, to close Worcester's fourth straight win.
The WooSox continue the six-game series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Radio coverage starts live at 6:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and the WooSox Radio Network. Connor Seabold (0-2, 7.56) is the scheduled starter for the WooSox.
