
Gozzo, Pigs roll Buffalo in series opener

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (35-41) defeated the Buffalo Bisons (46-30) 6-1 on Tuesday night behind timely hitting and good pitching. The Pigs have won seven out of their last eight games.
Adonis Medina pitched two scoreless innings to begin the game and was then followed by Julian Garcia (1-3), who pitched two scoreless innings. The Pigs were able to take a 3-0 lead against Thomas Hatch (0-2) in the bottom of the third inning when Charlie Tilson and Mickey Moniak each hit an RBI double, and Jorge Bonifacio added a sacrifice fly.
Sal Gozzo added an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning against Hatch to give Lehigh Valley a 4-0 lead then Tilson came through with an RBI single to score Rodolfo Duran. With the Pigs leading 5-0, Braden Zarbnisky pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Braeden Ogle and Jeff Singer each followed with a scoreless inning of relief.
Gozzo struck again in the bottom of the eighth inning when he hit an RBI single against Jon Harris and put Lehigh Valley ahead 6-0. Christian Colon hit an RBI single against Mike Adams in the top of the ninth inning, ending Adams' 13 2/3 scoreless inning streak.
Lehigh Valley and Buffalo play again on Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m.
