January 13, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Long Beach Ice Dogs scored two third period goals as they rallied back from a 4-2 deficit to defeat the Utah Grizzlies Friday night at the E-Center.
Justin Aikins continued his multi-point streak against the Grizzlies this season when he maneuvered the puck into the goal on the Ice Dogs first power-play opportunity. Later in the first, Grizzlies captain, Louis Dumont, ended his three-game scoreless streak when he blasted the puck past Ice Dogs netminder, Olivier Michaud to tie the game at one.
In the second, the Grizzlies jumped out to a 3-1 lead with goals scored by Barret Ehgoetz at the 1:47 mark and Matt Craig at the 8:00 mark. The Ice Dogs responded when Sean McAslan found the back of the net at 10:55. Less than a minute later, Jeff Miles lit the lamp for his fourteenth goal of the season. It was once again Sean McAslan scoring to trim to the Grizzlies lead to 4-3 to close out the second period.
In the third, the Ice Dogs knotted the score up at four when Sean McAslan found Cory Urquhart for his ninth goal of the season. Long Beach scored the go-ahead goal with just 2:41 remaining in the contest and was able to hold on to defeat the Grizzlies for the third game in a row.
Several Grizzlies and Ice Dogs players had multi-point nights. Jeff Miles (1 goal, 1 assist), Matt Craig (1 goal, 2 assists), Barret Ehgoetz (1 goal, 2 assists) all had multi-point outings for the Grizzlies. For the Ice Dogs it was Sean McAslan (2 goals, 2 assists), Cory Urquhart (1 goal, 2 assists), and Justin Aikins (1 goal, 1 assist) with multi-point efforts.
The Grizzlies (20-15-2) look to bounce back tomorrow night, January 14 at the E-Center, as they finish their series with the Ice Dogs and continue their seven-game home stand. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
