Everblades hang on, defeat Stockton 3-2
January 13, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
STOCKTON, CA - The Florida Everblades (23-9-2) collected their first win of their west coast trip with a 3-2 victory over the Stockton Thunder (6-19-4) on Friday night at the Stockton Arena.
The Everblades opened the scoring in the game after a favorable bounce. With a delayed penalty coming against Florida, the Thunder inadvertently banked a pass off goaltender Jeff Weber and into the net. Greg Black was credited with the goal, being the last Everblades player to touch the puck.
An entertaining second period saw both team score early, with the Everblades tallying first to open a 2-0 lead after Phil Aucoin notched his ninth goal of the year just 22 seconds into the frame. However Stockon answered with a power play goal exactly one minute later when Aaron MacInnis chipped a shot past Everblades net minder Phil Osaer.
In the third period, the Thunder battled back to tie the game at two on Geno Parrish's third goal of the season at 14:22, but Steve Saviano tallied the eventual game-winner just 56 seconds later with his 10th of the season.
Osaer collected his fourth win in his last five games after stopping 33 of 35 Stockton shots to raise his record to 11-3-2. Weber suffered the tough-luck loss allowing three goals on 40 Florida shots, knocking his record to 2-9-0.
On the power play the Everblades finished 0-for-4 while the Thunder converted on one of their five opportunities.
The Everblades return to action on Saturday, January 14 when they take on the Stockton Thunder at 10:30 p.m. eastern time from Stockton, CA. Saturday's game will be broadcast via internet only.
