PHOENIX - After a late goal denied Matt Underhill his fourth shutout of the year and forced overtime, Olivier Filion and Ryan Ramsay scored in the ensuing shootout to lift Alaska to a 2-1 victory over Phoenix before 4,283 Friday at the US Airways Center.

At times, the Aces seemed sluggish in the first period, but their fourth power play of the opening frame resulted in the game's first goal, as Cam Keith fed Barrett Heisten in front of Phoenix goaltender Mike Mole. Heisten's first shot was stopped, but he lifted a backhander over Mole's left pad on the rebound to give Alaska a 1-0 edge with 3:28 remaining in the period.

That would be all the scoring until late in regulation, with the Aces still clinging to a one-goal lead and having limited the Roadrunners to just two shots through nearly 17 minutes of the final period. But with 3:10 to play, an Alaska turnover deep in its own zone led to the equalizer, a one-timer over Underhill's shoulder off the stick of Phoenix captain Dean Tiltgen. After neither team scored in overtime, despite six shots for the Aces, Underhill easily flicked aside for attempts to the glove side from the Roadrunners while Filion and Ramsay scored in the first and third rounds, respectively.

Alaska (27-5-3) faces a six-hour bus ride back to San Diego for its final game of the road trip, tomorrow night against the Gulls at 6:00 p.m. AST. All Alaska Aces games, home and away, are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all home games and selected road contests will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
