
Ice Pilots Win Third In A Row With 3-2 SO Win At Columbia

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots won their third game in a row with a 3-2 shootout win at Columbia on Friday night in front of 3,525 fans.
Pete Gardiner scored the first goal of the game for the Ice Pilots at the 2:47 mark of the first period putting home a rebound shot from in front of the net. Columbia's Leon Hayward scored a power play goal at the 8:34 mark of the first period to tie the game at one.
The Ice Pilots took a 2-1 lead when Shaun Landolt scored his second goal of the season at the 11:42 mark of the first period. Mike Stathopoulos tied the game once again for Columbia at the 17:31 mark scoring his 12th goal of the season to make it 2-2 game after the first period.
The game ended in a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation and also at the end of over time. The Ice Pilots won the game in the shootout as it went five rounds. Brian Collins and Pete Gardiner scored goals in the shootout for the Ice Pilots and Leon Hayward scored the only goal for Columbia.
The Ice Pilots had 28 shots on goal, 10 penalty minutes and went 0-4 on the power play. Columbia had 42 shots on goal, 8 penalty minutes and went 1-5 on the power play. Todd Ford was the winning goalie for the Ice Pilots and Chris Houle picked up the shootout loss in goal for Columbia.
The Ice Pilots improved their record to 14-18-3 for 31 points. Columbia's record stands at 13-19-5 for 31 points.
The Ice Pilots will continue their road trip on Saturday night at Columbia again with a 6:05 p.m. central time face-off. The pre game show on the Ice Pilots Hockey Network begins at 5:50 p.m. central time. Fans can listen to the game on AM 1620 and at www.icepilots.com sponsored by Sports Avenue.
