January 9, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
Chicago Wolves center JASON KROG, the American Hockey League's leading scorer, and defenseman JOEL KWIATKOWSKI (KWEE-at-KOW-skee) have been selected to the Canadian All-Star Team for the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Reebok, which will take place at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, N.Y., on Jan. 27 and 28. The roster for the PlanetUSA Team will be announced on Thursday.
KROG has notched a league-best 38 assists and 54 points in 35 games this season, which includes collecting a point in each of his last 12 outings, the longest active point streak in the AHL this year. The 32-year-old forward has racked up 28 points (7G, 21A) during his streak, which includes 16 helpers and 22 points over the last eight tilts. He has notched 16 multiple-point performances this season, seven of which have come in the last eight outings.
In just 79 career games with Chicago, KROG already ranks 14th on the franchise's all-time scoring list, with 134 points (42G, 92A) in his two seasons with the team. The Fernie, British Columbia, native has been held scoreless just nine time in his Wolves career. Overall, he has tallied 104 goals and 304 points in 258 career AHL games and 58 points (21G, 37A) in 198 career National Hockey League outings, which includes six points (3G, 3A) in 23 contests with the Atlanta Thrashers and New York Rangers last season. He was voted to the starting line-up of the 2007 AHL All-Star Classic, but did not participate due to NHL recall.
KWIATKOWSKI leads AHL defensemen with 11 goals and ranks third among league blueliners with 30 points in 35 games this season. The 30-year-old alternate captain paces the Wolves with a +13 plus/minus rating and has registered 13 points (5G, 8A) in his last nine games.
Overall, the Kindersley, Saskatchewan, native has tallied 55 goals and 163 points in 332 career AHL outings and 40 points (16G, 24A) in 264 NHL matchups, which includes 10 points (5G, 5A) in 42 games with the Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins last season.
