
DuPont Selected to Canadian AHL All-Star Team

The American Hockey League announced today the Canadian AHL All-Star team roster for the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok, with Peoria Rivermen defenseman Micki DuPont selected to the squad.
DuPont is one of eight defensemen to comprise the squad, and is currently tied for ninth among blueliners in scoring with 23 points, 19 of which are assists. The 5-10, 186-pound Calgary, Alberta native has been recalled to the St. Louis Blues twice this season, appearing in a pair of games with no points and a +1 rating. With Peoria DuPont is ranked fifth in team scoring and is tied for second on the club in assists in 33 games this year.
Originally selected by the Calgary Flames in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, DuPont has also appeared in NHL games with the Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins. His career NHL totals are 21 games played, one goal, three assists, and 10 minutes in penalties.
The PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team roster will be announced on Thursday.
Of the 427 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Daniel Briere, Zdeno Chara, Jonathan Cheechoo, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, Patrik Elias, Ray Emery, Jiri Hudler, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Steve Sullivan.
The 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2008 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 27 (7:00 ET), and the 2008 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 28 (7:00 ET).
