Carolina Returns Aucoin To River Rats

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that center Keith Aucoin has been reassigned to Albany from the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League.

Aucoin, 29, appeared in three games and averaged 10:52 of ice time for Carolina in his second recall to the NHL this season. After being called up to the Hurricanes on January 3rd, the Waltham, Massachusetts native recorded an assist on fellow River Rat Casey Borer's first career NHL goal against the Atlanta Thrashers. In nine total games with Carolina this year, Aucoin has three assists and a +2 rating. Albany's captain leads the team in scoring, posting 32 points (7 goals, 25 assists) in 29 games played; he is tied for 11th in the AHL in assists.

The River Rats begin a busy four-game week with a road game against the Manchester Monarchs Wednesday night at 7:05 pm at Verizon Arena. Albany's next home game comes on Saturday, January 12th against the Worcester Sharks at the Times Union Center.
