Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, January 9)... Rochester Americans left wing Clarke MacArthur has been selected to play for the Canadian American Hockey League All-Star team in the AHL All-Star Classic to be played later this month at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, N.Y.
The team comprises 24 players - 13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders - born in Canada. AHL fans determined the starting lineup via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the roster.
MacArthur, 22, was one of 13 forwards and the only Amerk selected to play for the team of Canadian-born players. The third-year AHLer will be making his second consecutive AHL All-Star appearance. MacArthur has split time between the Amerks and their National Hockey League affiliate, the Buffalo Sabres this season. He currently has 11 goals and 19 assists in 26 games for Rochester, while posting four goals and two assists in 14 games with Buffalo.
The PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team roster will be announced on Thursday. Of the 427 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Daniel Briere, Zdeno Chara, Jonathan Cheechoo, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, Patrik Elias, Ray Emery, Jiri Hudler, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Steve Sullivan.
