INDIANAPOLIS - Starter Adrian Sampson tied a season high with eight strikeouts and Gorkys Hernandez singled home two runs as the Indianapolis Indians snapped a three-game skid with a 3-1 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night at Victory Field.

Sampson (5-3) pitched 6 2-3 innings of one-run ball to win a fifth straight decision for just the second time in his career. He walked one and gave up seven hits, including his lone run on a solo homer to Victory Field's all-time hits leader Matt Hague.

Brent Morel extended his hitting streak against the Bisons to 12 consecutive games with an RBI double off the top of the left field wall in the opening frame. He is batting .388 with 19 base hits in the stretch that dates back to 2013.

Hernandez plated Tony Sanchez and Jaff Decker with the deciding hit before the Tribe's (31-22) bullpen took over with 2 1-3 perfect innings between Deolis Guerra and Blake Wood.

Wood fanned two in the ninth to pick up his league-leading 14th save.
